Min Rod Holder
Max Rod Holder
Choose a rod holder with an inner diameter between 1" and 1.5" (25-38mm). Ensure the rod holder is clean and free of debris or fishing line.
Tip: Choose a rod holder that's positioned away from the boat's edge and has clear sight lines for throwing clays.
Hold ReelTrigger with the base pointing down. Slide the mounting post into your rod holder at a slight angle (approximately 45°).
Insert at angle
Push down firmly until the quick-release mechanism clicks and locks. The unit should feel secure with no wobble. Pull up gently to confirm it's locked.
Check: Give it a firm tug to ensure the mount is secure before use.
Slide the throwing arm into the receiver on top of the unit. Rotate until the alignment holes match, then insert the locking pin.
Set your desired throw distance by turning the distance dial. Position the throwing arm to your preferred angle using the rotation knob.
Turn clockwise for longer throws, counter-clockwise for shorter throws. Range: 10m - 60m.
Loosen to rotate arm 180°, tighten to lock position.
Lift the throwing arm, place a clay target on the spring-loaded cup, and push down until it clicks. Pull the trigger to launch!
Start with the shortest distance setting and work your way up as you get comfortable with the throwing arc.
Read before using ReelTrigger.
Quick fixes for common issues.
Cause: Rod holder may be slightly larger than 1.5".
Solution: Try a different rod holder, or contact us about our rod holder adapter sleeves (sold separately).
Cause: Debris in rotation mechanism or rotation knob is too tight.
Solution: Loosen the rotation knob fully, clean around the rotation joint with fresh water, and apply a small amount of marine lubricant.
Cause: Safety clip may not be properly engaged, or spring tension needs adjustment.
Solution: Ensure the safety clip is fully seated and clicks into place. If issue persists, contact support for spring tension adjustment instructions.
Cause: Distance dial may be loose, or wind conditions affecting throws.
Solution: Tighten the distance dial securely. In windy conditions, throws will naturally vary. Consider shorter distances or waiting for calmer conditions.
Cause: Quick-release lever may be stuck or the unit has swelled slightly from water exposure.
Solution: Pull the quick-release lever up fully and rock the unit gently while pulling up. If stuck, have a second person slightly lift the rod holder's sides while you pull.
